With over 3000 stores and millions of customers in Europe, Technology plays a key role in Action’s success with the surprising assortment and strong brand proposition. The Marketing & Format Department is dedicated to improve brand representation, driving store visits, roll-out the Action (store) formula, increasing sales, and attracting talent. The department also executes promotion management to create offers that drive store traffic and sales and delivers content for the websites (including the web shop), apps and other channels through Action Studio.

Your daily tasks

As Tech Lead Marketing & Format, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Head of Business Technology in order to develop and maintain best practices within the department regarding coding standards, code quality and overall quality assurance (including technical performance, cost efficiency and security).

Key Responsibilities

• Quality & Security of software (delivery)
• Cost efficiency & technical performance of the technology stack
• Setting and maintaining (coding) standards and best practices
• Guiding & coordinating software development teams to become a bit better every day.
• Assist product owners and business stakeholders during roadmap sessions
• Tactical planning to improve the software quality through the stack

Your team

Our Technology department adds value with dedicated horizontal / functional teams for Business domains, a Development & Operations team to manage shared Technology services. Furthermore, supportive teams for Projects & Portfolio management. Over 700 people work daily in and for Technology. Business Technology supports the Marketing & Format department by organizing, enabling and delivering the technology (organization) needed for the business to thrive. The team consists of engaged, cost-conscious and customer-focused people with diverse cultural backgrounds.

You also have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a technical leadership role, preferably within digital channels.
• Experience working in a team to develop (big) web sites and mobile applications.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to harmonize different viewpoints.
• Ability to oversee the full (Digital) technology stack.
• Does have knowledge of the digital development technologies .NET, React and Next.js.
• Experience working in an agile development environment; closely collaborating with business.
• Retail experience is an advantage.
• Ability to discuss with development teams on code level to improve quality, efficiency and simplicity.
