As a Sustainability Specialist at Action in Zwaagdijk, you will be responsible for managing, analysing and reporting on our carbon emissions data. You will use your expertise to help Action move forward in the area of sustainability – and always at the best possible price for our customers.

Your tasks

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and monitoring detailed emissions inventories and reports to provide insight into the environmental impact of our operations. You will continuously refine our methodologies for calculating greenhouse gas emissions, using leading international standards such as the GHG Protocol.

You will establish strategic reduction plans and implement measures to reduce Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. In doing so, you will take into account both internal goals and external laws and regulations. You will monitor compliance with all relevant national and international regulations, and ensure that Action is informed of the latest requirements and guidelines at all times.

You will also play an important role in identifying opportunities for strategic sustainability. You will identify areas for improvement and actively contribute to how we can reduce our environmental footprint as an organisation. Finally, you will act as a strategic adviser to colleagues in a range of departments. You will share your knowledge of both local and global emissions policy developments, ensuring sustainability remains strongly embedded in our business operations.

A typical working day

You will start your day by updating the Sustainability team and discussing ongoing projects. You will then delve into emissions data, work on reports or work with internal stakeholders on new legislation or reduction measures. You will be the point of contact in the field of carbon emissions data and help the company to take specific steps towards reducing our environmental impact.

Your profile

You have strong analytical skills, a proactive attitude and a passion for sustainability. You can translate complex data into clear insights and bring stakeholders on board with a clear vision.

  • A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • At least 6 years' experience in a similar role
  • An in-depth knowledge of the GHG Protocol and emissions methodologies
  • Experience with Scope 1, 2 and 3 data analyses
  • Advanced Excel and programming skills
  • Proficiency in using emissions factor databases (DEFRA, Ecoinvent)
  • Experience with sustainability data platforms or carbon management tools
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is an asset)
