Purpose of the Job 

 

As a Store Designer you will be part of the construction team in Portugal and you will report to the Construction Manager. 

Your main responsibility will be the creation of store layouts, supporting the technical activities for licensing, executive design and construction of our stores. This includes lighting and ceiling plans, elevations and cross sections with the purpose of delivering a clear, efficient, user-friendly and appealing store that complies with all relevant legislation and regulations. The output shall offer optimal support to implementing the design. 

 

Areas of Responsability: 

Drawing 

  • Measurement survey of existing stores and register results.
  • Prepare both rough sketches and detailed layouts with CAD systems for the construction of stores;
  • Draw up the first draft design/layout for the construction of new Action stores, so that the level-1 technical designer can use it to draw up the final plan for the store;
  • Review and redraft alongside the engineering/architecture team;
  • Manage and archive drawings and other relevant information available in the systems;
  • Keep drawing standards, record and monitor change requests. 

 

Communication 

  • Provide input and recommend improvements from daily practice, with respect to processes , procedures, working methods and systems within the department.
  • Maintain and expand contacts with an external architectural design office, if necessary provide the latter with the proper information in a timely manner to ensure a high quality final product;
  • Request and fill out the occupancy notification at the relevant public authority/authorities (e.g. Municipality/Fire Department/ANEPC);
  • Active collaboration aiming the internal Layouts approval 

Requirements:

  • Store Design experience in the retail market (1 to 3 years preferably).
  • Previous experience in AutoCAD (mandatory) and Revit (preferably);
  • Knowledge of engineering design (preferably): hydraulic, electricity, SCIE, etc.  
  • Proficient skills in Portuguese and English, verbal and written;
  • Demonstrates a high level of pragmatism;
  • Very organized and able to structure activities and projects, complies w/ agreements within deadlines and according to guidelines;
  • Works efficiently and effectively, also under pressure;
  • Works effectively with others to achieve common targets;
