About the job

The H&S Specialist is responsible for assisting the Country H&S Coordinator with: executing and monitoring all activities in support of the health and safety initiatives within the country, namely related to the country office and stores. You will report to the H&S Coordinator.

Areas of responsibility

• Follow the organization's Health & Safety (HS&E) policies, procedures and mandatory instructions; to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace
• Know, understand and implement H&S standards (procedures and working instructions) in full alignment with the H&S company policy
• Assist with Identifying, knowing and interpreting applicable H&S regulation to country business reality, and ensure full compliance, highlighting any red flags with the Country H&S Coordinator
• Assist the Country H&S Coordinator with creating and managing local relevant H&S documents and records that sustain H&S performance (example: H&S risk assessment, action plans, H&S training records, emergency preparedness & response capacity, …)
• Assist the Country H&S Coordinator with the planning and conduction of any relevant H&S trainings
• Analyze (real and potential) H&S incidents (registering, reporting, investigating, action plan, follow up)
• Assist with Proactively monitoring and improving H&S working conditions in the country office and stores
• Assist with performing internal safety inspections & intervene in all unsafe activities, operations and behaviors
• Ensure workers collaboration and participation in H&S topics.

About you

• Technical qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (Level IV or higher)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Health & Safety, preferably in Retail or Logistics
• Knowledge of Portuguese Health & Safety legislation and risk prevention principles
• Proactive, organized and hands-on, able to work autonomously in the field
• Strong communication skills and ability to build good relationships with store teams
• Willingness to travel frequently across the North and Central regions
• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
