Description:

Customer Insights Data analyst (E-com)

Fulltime / parttime, 32 – 38 hours per week

As an all-around Customer Insights Data Analyst, you will put smiles on the faces of millions of customers. Because your analytical skills will allow us to communicate as personally as possible with our customers in digital interactions. From home or our headquarters in Zwaagdijk, you can help improve the customer experience even further with an impressive data stack. You will do this as part of a pleasant, motivated team that takes care of its members and gives you the scope to fully develop.

This is your daily action

As an all-round data analyst, you are in charge of your tasks on the Kanban board. To succeed in this role, you'll use smart tools such as Databricks, Google Cloud Platform, Azure and Google Looker Studio. How do you perform your tasks? That’s up to you. You have a lot of freedom, but also responsibility.

Some examples of your tasks:

  • Identify, develop, manage and execute analytics that uncover opportunities to drive customer engagement across web, mobile, app, store, and more
  • Translate insights and data patterns into clear indicators and tactics for the Performance, Engagement and Promo teams
  • Collect and clean up data with the ability to devise new algorithms, so we can solve problems and build new tools to automate work
  • Collaborate with other teams and be the analyst of choice, the one that colleagues turn to for analytical support

The Customer Insights team is a relatively new but fast-growing Action team. Your team will consist of you and eight colleagues. A team where you can learn a lot in the field of data analytics and customer insights, and where there's a lot of mutual respect. In addition, you will work a lot with the customer insights team lead, colleagues from IT, product owners, colleagues from customer experience, developers and SEO specialists. Together, you will aim for the optimum (digital) customer experience.

Your team

With tens of millions of fans across Europe, we keep surprising them week after week. We are constantly expanding the Action brand using a data-driven approach and by working in agile teams.
Customer Insights is a crucial part of Action’s business strategy and plays a key role in continuously improving the customer experience. This team focuses on collecting and analysing customer data to gain in-depth insight into our customers’ buying behaviour and preferences.

The team explores patterns and trends in customer data, leading to valuable insights. These insights are then used strategically to optimise our product selection, marketing initiatives, and shopping and online experience.
Our biggest challenge? One voice and one format, online and in more than 2,500 stores in 13 different countries. Learning new things every day and working with the best colleagues to make our popular brand even more successful is what makes us happy. Does this apply to you, too?

This is you

Tell you what you need to do? Preferably not! You love to discover for yourself how things work and are also good at it. What’s more, you can often work out quickly how things can be improved. You enter into discussions with colleagues to get the most out of your work and the customer experience, and you work proactively and independently on your tasks.

In addition:

  • Extensive experience in writing SQL queries and performing exploratory data analyses
  • Experience with Google BigQuery, Looker Studio and Databricks
  • Good communication skills in English, as the organisation mainly speaks English.
  • Good storytelling skills, able to translate complex data into clear, concise stories that effectively convey the core of our customer insights to stakeholders
  • Preferably experience of programming in Python
  • Do you already have a lot of experience as an analyst? That's a bonus, but not a must. For example, even if you only have one year’s experience in the above skills, we cordially invite you to respond.

What we offer

Surprisingly much! From our international headquarters in the Netherlands you have an impact on what happens in our stores across Europe. We welcome more than 15 million customers every week in more than 2,500 stores in 13 European countries. We have great growth ambitions. For Action and for you. Because our growth means that you can always take new steps. A different position, an interesting innovation project, new skills: you can continue to develop as a professional. And all this in a culture where our shared values are truly lived: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost conscious and respect.

Did you know that you can also count on us for:

  • A market-based salary based on a 38-hour work week
  • 24 days of holiday and the option to buy 5 extra days (based on 38 hours per week)
  • A fixed contract with the intention of offering you a permanent contract in the long term
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of working up to 40% from home, of course in coordination with your team and manager
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel expenses allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is traffic jam-free and only 30 minutes by car from Amsterdam)

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you come and work with us. We work hard to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,500 children worldwide who grow up in an SOS Children's Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 155 different nationalities? That we purchase 94% of our wood products and 100% of our cotton sustainably? And that almost all our stores only use energy-efficient LED lighting? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
