Commerce and Supply Chain Process Trainee

Full-time, 38 hours a week

Action is active in 15 markets, and we continue to grow. This growth also brings new opportunities within Commerce & Supply Chain. As a Commerce & Supply Chain Process Trainee, you join an 18-month programme that helps you build the skills and confidence to become a confident process professional. From our headquarters in Zwaagdijk, you learn how processes, systems, and ways of working support our fast-growing organisation and shape the full commerce and supply chain flow. You take on real tasks from day one, help improve processes across teams, and contribute to making our operations more efficient and scalable. By the end of the traineeship, you have developed a strong understanding of how our end-to-end processes work and take the next step in your career.

Your daily tasks

Your traineeship is structured in three phases of six months each:

Phase 1 – Foundation (Months 1–6)

  • You will immerse yourself in Action’s Supply Chain by getting to know its various departments, processes, and systems. You will be assigned to a single department where you will work alongside colleagues and carry out a thorough process review.
  • Get to know the departments of Supply Chain, their processes and supporting systems.
  • Work alongside experienced colleagues in your assigned department.
  • Conduct a full process review and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Update existing process flows and create new ones where needed.

Phase 2 – Skilling Up (Months 7–12)

  • With a solid foundation in place, you will broaden your knowledge by supporting fellow Process Experts (PEs) across the department. You will also take ownership of a structured improvement project.
  • Assist colleague PEs with testing, work instructions, and answering operational questions.
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues in understanding and following processes.
  • Launch and complete a Green Belt project targeting measurable improvements to one or more processes.

Phase 3 – Creating Impact (Months 13–18)

  • Depending on your development and interests, this phase is tailored to your next step. The options include:
  • Step into a full Process Expert role within your home department.
  • Move to another PE department to deepen your cross-functional expertise.
  • Explore one or more other business departments to discover where your skills fit best.

Your team

You will become part of Action’s Commerce & Supply Chain process team – a fast-moving, international group that supports more than 3,000 stores across 15 countries. The team includes Process Experts across multiple areas: Commerce & Quality Management, Planning, and Outbound (Distribution Centres and transport). Each area has its own specialists, and as a trainee you will get to know them all.

From day one, you will have a dedicated manager and mentor to guide you. Your colleagues are eager to share their knowledge and help you grow into a confident professional. Curious about your new team? Your manager, mentor, and teammates can’t wait to support you during your traineeship.
