These are your daily actions
Our buyers are responsible for finding the best household products for our stores, but as a Buying Assistant in the Household category, you’ll have significant decision-making power that goes far beyond traditional support roles. You’ll actively shape what appears on Action’s shelves across Europe.
Your influence ranges from supporting buyers on major purchasing decisions to having your own creative input on product specifications. Yes, you’ll help coordinate the purchasing process from A to Z, but you’ll also be the one deciding whether that new storage container should come in sage green or dusty pink, determining the ideal size for our next set of mixing bowls, or suggesting which innovative household gadgets deserve a spot in our stores.
You’ll analyze emerging trends in home living, negotiate product specifications directly with suppliers, coordinate with Supply Chain for optimal delivery schedules, and collaborate closely with Marketing and Promotion to ensure your chosen household products get the attention they deserve. While there are administrative tasks to keep everything running smoothly, the majority of your time will be spent making commercial decisions that directly impact millions of households across Europe.

As part of the Household team, you’ll help introduce more than 150 new products weekly across all categories. In Household specifically, you’ll have direct input on our range of approximately 800+ household items – from kitchen essentials and storage solutions to cleaning tools and home organization products.
Your decisions matter: whether it’s selecting the perfect shade for our seasonal dinnerware collection or determining which smart home accessories deserve shelf space, you’ll have genuine decision-making power. Together with your team, you’ll ensure our household range remains sustainable, surprising, affordable, and balanced. Entrepreneurship and customer focus are central to everything we do, and in this role, your commercial instincts will directly shape what customers discover in our stores.
This is you:
You love organizing and ensuring everything runs smoothly, but you’re also excited about having real commercial decision-making power. You thrive in a dynamic environment where you can quickly switch between supporting strategic buying decisions and making your own product choices – whether that’s selecting colors, determining sizes, or identifying the next trending household item.
You have strong organizational and communication skills, but more importantly, you have a sharp commercial eye for what household products will resonate with customers. You’re someone who notices details – like which storage solutions actually work in real homes or what kitchen gadgets people truly need – and you want to translate those insights into product decisions.
We also require:
- Completed HBO degree in a commercial field
- Experience in a commercial environment (retail, purchasing, or product development preferred)
- Knowledge of systems, such as Excel
- Good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written
- A keen eye for household trends and consumer needs
