Buying Assistant Food & Drink

Full-time, 38 hours per week

Are you commercially minded and looking for a job where you can make an impact? Become part of our purchasing team as a Buying Assistant and get to work within one of our categories where you have direct influence on our product range!

These are your daily actions

Our buyers are responsible for finding the best products for our stores. Our stores feature 14 categories, ranging from clothing to office supplies and from cleaning products to do-it-yourself.

As a Buying Assistant, you'll get plenty of freedom and responsibility to help build the product range in your category. You'll do this by supporting the buyers in the purchasing process from A to Z. This includes looking at emerging trends, making agreements with suppliers about product specifications, coordinating with Supply Chain regarding delivery, and collaborating with Marketing and Promotion to bring your product to attention.

You'll also handle administrative tasks. In this dynamic role, you'll maintain oversight and get plenty of room to contribute ideas within the Buying team. As a true multi-tasker, you'll ensure smooth purchasing processes, up-to-date administration, and commercial insight. To maintain high quality, you'll organize and conduct store visits, check incoming samples, and maintain contact with our national and international suppliers.

This becomes your team

Let us tell you about Buying in Action!

You and your 50+ colleagues are the driving force behind Action's success. As a team, we continuously shape Action's product range and introduce more than 150 new products weekly. Together, we're responsible for our sustainable, surprising, affordable, and balanced product range of approximately 6,000 items. Entrepreneurship and customer focus are central to everything we do. Whether it's planning or buying: your role is crucial for Action's growth throughout Europe. Speaking of growth: you'll also take steps thanks to the many opportunities for personal development and broad career prospects.

So join our international, energetic, open, and supportive team. And help us surprise our millions of customers every day!

Within the Buying department, you'll work with the team. Your colleagues are already excited to work with you!

This is you

You love organizing and ensure everything runs smoothly and is accurately tracked. You prefer working in a dynamic and evolving environment where you need to switch quickly and work with multiple stakeholders simultaneously. You have strong organizational and communication skills that keep processes running smoothly and have a sharp, fresh, commercial perspective.

We also require:

  • Completed HBO degree in a commercial field
  • Experience in a commercial environment
  • Knowledge of systems, such as Excel
  • Good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you come work with us. Behind the scenes, we're working hard to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor 1,737 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children's Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 124 nationalities? That we already source 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton sustainably? And that more than half of our stores only use energy-efficient LED lighting? Yes, that's also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we facilitate? Strengthen our team and discover it yourself.
