Business Controller Sourcing & Operations Direct Import

38 hours per week

Are you an experienced Business Controller with a keen eye for performance, risk management, and strategic decision-making? Would you like to work in a dynamic international environment where your insights and recommendations directly contribute to the success of one of Europe’s fastest-growing retailers?

In this role, you will make a significant impact within one of Action’s most dynamic business areas. Operating at the intersection of Finance, Sourcing, Operations, and Supply Chain, you will support strategic decision-making related to Direct Import, supplier performance, cost development, and operational excellence.

Your daily actions

As a Business Controller, you act as the financial business partner for the Sourcing & Operations Direct Import team. You provide valuable insights, challenge assumptions, and support stakeholders in achieving growth, cost efficiency, and sustainable value creation.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the financial business partner for Sourcing & Operations Direct Import.
  • Monitoring financial processes, internal controls, and risks within the Direct Import domain.
  • Analyzing the end-to-end Direct Import supply chain and translating insights into tangible improvement initiatives.
  • Monitoring the performance, costs, and contractual agreements of ocean carriers and logistics partners.
  • Proactively identifying financial risks, trends, and opportunities and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and business case development.
  • Driving data-driven decision-making and a culture of continuous improvement.

Your team

You will join the Commerce & Supply Chain Business Control team within Finance and report directly to the Head of Commerce & Supply Chain Control. Together with colleagues from Business Control, Business Insights, and Finance Services, you will deliver the insights and guidance needed to support Action’s ambitious growth agenda.

You will work closely with teams across Sourcing, Supply Chain, Financial Control, and Business Insights. By combining strong financial expertise with a solid understanding of operational processes, you will translate complex analyses into practical recommendations and measurable results.

Curious about your future colleagues? They are looking forward to welcoming you to the team.

Who you are

You are an analytical professional with excellent communication skills and the confidence to act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders at both tactical and strategic levels. You take initiative, think proactively, and know how to drive change and continuous improvement. Building strong relationships comes naturally to you, and you are able to influence stakeholders and gain commitment through a persuasive and collaborative approach.

In addition, you bring:

  • A university degree in Business Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Preferably a Master's degree in Finance & Control (RC) or Accountancy (RA).
  • At least 5 years of relevant Business Control experience within an international organization.
  • Experience in retail and/or sourcing is considered a plus.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, business cases, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
